This Privacy Policy explains how Mobile-food Sàrl (“we”, “us”) processes personal data when you use LinguaClick. It is intended to comply with the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nLPD/LPD).

2. Personal data we process

  • Account data: email address; password (stored as a secure hash); account preferences (native language, learning language).
  • Usage/learning data: texts you read, completion history, quiz score (number of correct answers), penalty count, XP.
  • Technical/session data: session identifier cookie, IP address, user agent, timestamps (for security and session management).
  • Analytics data (optional): device/browser information and usage events collected via Google Analytics, if you consent.
  • Admin/AI generation inputs (admins only): prompts such as themes and language settings used to generate texts and images.

3. Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)

  • Provide the service (create accounts, authenticate, show texts, track progress): performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Security and abuse prevention (rate limiting, logging, fraud prevention): legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Analytics (understand aggregated usage, improve the product): consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where required.
  • Communications (password reset emails): performance of a contract and/or legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(b)/(f)).

Under Swiss law (nLPD/LPD), we process personal data in a lawful, proportionate, and transparent manner and apply appropriate security measures.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential cookies: used to keep you signed in and protect the service (authentication/session cookie). These are required for the service to work.
  • Analytics cookies: used only if you consent (Google Analytics).

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by changing your cookie settings (or by clearing analytics cookies in your browser).

5. Sharing of data / recipients

We may share personal data with service providers that help us operate LinguaClick:

  • Hosting and infrastructure: hosting providers and database/infrastructure providers (as applicable).
  • Email delivery: email service provider used to send password reset emails.
  • Google Analytics: if you consent, analytics data is processed by Google Ireland Ltd. (and potentially Google LLC as a sub-processor, depending on configuration).
  • OpenAI: for generating texts and comprehension questions and for image generation (admins only).
  • Cloudinary: if configured, generated images may be uploaded and hosted via Cloudinary.

We do not sell personal data.

6. International data transfers

Some providers may process data outside Switzerland and/or the EEA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) and/or adequacy decisions, depending on the destination and provider.

7. Data retention

  • Account data: kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
  • Session and security logs: retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
  • Learning history: kept to provide your progress tracking, unless you delete your account.
  • Analytics: retained according to the analytics provider settings (if enabled) and your consent.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to object to or restrict processing; and to withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).

If you are in the EEA/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including hashed passwords and secure session cookies. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we strive to use industry-standard safeguards.

10. Children

LinguaClick is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age required by local law). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date indicates when it was last revised.
